Houma, LA, November 2021 – Terrebonne General Health System along with the Houma
Downtown Development Association will host Market at the Marina this Saturday, December 4, from 8 am – 12 pm on the marina across from Terrebonne General. The outdoor farmers market offers our community an opportunity to experience local vendors who produce fresh and healthy food and non-food health items.
Some of the items vendors will have include fresh produce, freshly baked breads, sweet treats, homemade pet treats, homemade honey and jams, plants and succulents, and fresh seafood, including oysters.
“In the downtown Houma area, there is not a lot of easy access to foods that encourage a healthy lifestyle such as fresh produce. We saw this as an opportunity to turn a community need into a community initiative and have received enormous support from our community members,” said Phyllis Peoples, Terrebonne General President, and CEO.
With December being a holiday month, the Market will be extra special offering pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, lots of kids of activities, and several craft booths. In addition, there will be a Toys for Tots Drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to contribute.
Market at the Marina is held on the first Saturday of every month, from 8 am-noon, at the Downtown Houma Marina, located under the Twin Span bridges and across from Terrebonne General Health System. The event is held rain or shine unless there is extreme weather. There is no cost to enter the Market.
