Level III NICU
You Don’t Have to Leave Town to Get Great Medical Care.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Terrebonne General Health System has Level III status by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. This designation allows physicians and staff of the Terrebonne General NICU to care for pre-mature infants of all gestational ages who required advanced respiratory support and who do not need surgical intervention. This means our NICU patients won’t need to be transported to another, larger facility for care.
As skilled neonatal providers, we offer your baby the quality of a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in our Women’s Health Center. With a Level III NICU, Terrebonne General cares for premature babies, and for infants who require focused care from complications. A board-certified neonatologist and pediatrician service the Level III NICU, along with a team of nurse practitioners and nurses.
NICVIEW® 2
The NICVIEW® 2 Live Video Streaming Camera System has been installed in our neonatal Intensive care unit at Terrebonne General. This NICU camera system helps extend family-centered care by giving family members a virtual window to their newborns. Many of the babies in the NICU born prematurely are released within a few days. However, the length of stay for some on this unit can be longer. While not a replacement for visiting in person, this password-protected system allows parents and extended family members 24/7 access to view their babies and feel closer to them.
Our Women’s Health Center knows childbirth is an emotional event for parents and families, particularly when a newborn’s first few critical days, weeks, or even months are spent in the NICU. NICVIEW 2 is inobtrusive and can be activated and repositioned at will, ensuring NICU staff always remain in control of the care process. 24/7 video streaming with NICVIEW 2 helps families feel more involved right from the start, making them partners in the process of giving their hospitalized infant the best start in life.
